Monika Tomaszewska 's public lecture

On 8 June 2026, Gori State University hosted a public lecture on the topic “EU Social Policy” delivered by Professor Monika Tomaszewska, Full Professor at the University of Gdańsk and Head of Labour Law Department. The visit of the Polish scholar to Georgia was organized within the framework of the Jean Monnet Chair project, “EU Social Justice,” implemented by Gori State University.
The public lecture was opened by Mr. David Kvernadze, Chancellor and Head of the University Administration of Gori State University; Professor Tsiuri Duruli, Head of the Teaching Process Department and Professor of the Jean Monnet Chair; and Professor Ekaterine Kardava, author, Chair Holder, and Head of the Jean Monnet Chair.
Prior to the lecture, Professor Tomaszewska met with Mr. Zurab Zurabashvili, Vice-Rector of Gori State University; Mr. David Kvernadze, Chancellor of the University; and Ms. Marika Sherazadishvili, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Business and Law. During the meeting, the Polish professor was presented with symbolic gifts bearing the insignia of Gori State University.
Professor Tomaszewska’s lecture addressed key aspects of European Union social policy, EU labour law, the implementation of EU legal standards at the national level within Member States, as well as the jurisprudential approach and selected case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union.
