In 2020, Gori State Teaching University won the Erasmus + Jean Monnet Activities (JMA) Competition and received support in implementing the Jean Monnet Module "Discover the EU in the Association Agreement" (EUEAA). The curriculum "EU, Association Agreement and Legal Approximation" was developed within the module. The course is integrated into master's degree programs in law and public administration, as well as various graduate programs.
The aim of the module is to strengthen European teaching at Gori State Teaching University and to raise awareness about the European Union. See. Module website https://gu.edu.ge/ge/international-relations1/jean-monnet-module/activities
Within the module, a student conference is planned to be held on June 10, 2022. The name of the student conference is "EU and Gori". Conference reports and articles should reflect the cases, projects and results initiated and implemented by EU assistance instruments within Shida Kartli (as a whole in the region, or in Gori or in a specific village).
The field of study can be many. For example, education and youth; Infrastructure projects; Promoting business development; Environmental protection and waste management; Municipal Empowerment; The role of Gori University in the field of democratization and Europeanization of Georgia; Regional media and European integration; Food safety and more.
The aim of the conference is for GSTU students to seek official information and explore what projects are being implemented with EU assistance directly in the region where they live and study. The results of such research will be presented at a conference in front of the University Academy and then disseminated in the form of a conference journal to the general public. Results will serve:
- Raising awareness among the population of Shida Kartli about the European Union;
- Increasing the role of GSMU in combating misinformation and strengthening strategic communication on European integration policy;
- Development of students' research skills, and, in general, diversification and strengthening of research activities at the University;
- Raising the role of youth and motivating them to engage in public or other activities.
Students of GSTU master's and bachelor's degree programs can participate in the conference. Students must submit a research paper in writing. Students will be required to meet the conference standard in terms of both content academia, honesty and factual accuracy, as well as technical standards of writing.

- The deadline for consultations on conference topics and concepts is March 1, 2022.
- The deadline for submission of conference topics is May 1, 2022.
