
Student international conference
28 January,2021On January 28, 2021, GSTU and the center of European studies, Warsaw University, organized an onZoom event: Student international conference, dedicated to 100 year of Georgian independence, recognized by Poland. The conference was opened by the rector of the university, Mr. Giorgi Sosiashvili. He reviewed the history of collaboration between these two universities, the importance of opening Polish center at GSTU, studying Polish language as a second European language and exchange programs. Other speakers at the conference were: Jan Malitski, Ketevan Barbakadze, Eldar Mamistvalishvili and David Kolbaia.
Prof. David Kolbaia presented two important documents to the audience: recognition of independence of Georgia by Polish republic, Diplomatic Note created On January 28, 1921, signed by Minister Eustahi Sapieha.( Archive of New History, Warsaw) and a letter , written by Giorgi Sidamon-Eristav to the Polish minister of Foreign Affairs, dated 1921, January 3. Students of two universities participated in the conference, two sessions were held, where participants presented their work in History, Philology and International Relations. Supervisors of the sessions were: Mikheil Bakhtadze, Otar Janelidze and Ioseb Alimbarashvili. At the end of the conference Mrs. Daria Schlesinger, representative of the center of European studies, Caucasus bureau, informed students on Scholarships for students and young scientists, financed by Polish government. Mr. Giorgi Sosiashvli and Mr. David Kolbaia expressed their willingness to organize such conferences annually.
Presented work will be published as a collection of scientific works.
