In 2009 an association of Caucasus universities was founded . Since then, scientific congress is held annually and head of the congress is prof. Ramazan Korkmaz. In 2016 hosting country for the congress was Uzbekistan , Bishkek , Uzbek-Turkish university. Participants were universities from Turkey, Iran, Azerbaijan , Georgia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kirghistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan.

Main subject, widely discussed at the congress, was problems of Educational system and role of silk road countries. Participants from Georgia in the congress   were : prof. Sergo Vardosanidze, rector of Georgian University, prof. Shalva Kirtadze, rector of Kutaisi University, prof.David Chochishvili, dean of the faculty of education and Roin Kavrelishvili,- professor of Samtskhe-Javakheti university.

Among the professors, who gave speeches at the congress were Sergo Vardosanidze and associated professor David Chochishvili. At the end of the congress , head of the Turkish education council , prof. Yecta Sarach met with Georgian delegation and discussed the issue such as  admitting Georgian diplomas in Turkey. A memorandum was signed between Gori university and universities of Iran, Turkey, Ukraine, Azerbaijan
