On May 24 Universiada 2021 started with support of the ministry of Culture, Sports and youth affairs of Georgia, sports and basketball federations. GSTU students have been actively involved in various sport activities and were especially successful in judo, combat sambo and Georgian wrestling.

Winners were given certificates and medals on July 1st during medal-awarding ceremony:

• Tornike Margvelashvili, 60 kg-1st place.
• Guram Gasitashvili, 66kg-1st place.
• Aleko Nebieridze, 100 kg- 1st place.
• Vladimer Akhalkatsi,81 kg- 2nd place.

Georgian wrestling:

• Vaja Kakilashvili, 100kg-1st place

Combat sambo

• Giorgi Iantbelidze, 71- 2nd place.
