On July 9, 2021 within the framework of RURD, an institutional development project of ERASMUS+, a meeting took place at Akaki Tsereteli State University, attended by deputy ministers Mrs. Nunu Mitskevich and Mr. Solomon Pavliashvili, representatives of the ministry of education and science and rectors of regional universities. The aim of the meeting was to found a standing conference for rectors of regional universities. A memorandum on the matter was signed by 11 rectors from all over the country and Mr. Giorgi Sosiashvili was chosen as a chairman of the committee. Parties discussed details of collaboration, challenges of the regions etc. the goal of the project is to raise universities involvement and role in regions life, to modernize strategic plan, to strengthen working relationships between local governments and higher institutions. 4 foreign educational institutions from Spain, Austria, Check republic and Lithuania also are involved in the project among the ministry of education and science and EQE.
