an archeological excavation

On September 27, 2021 group of GSTU teachers and students (project supervisors Ioseb Alimbarashvili, archeologist Giorgi Mindiashvili, Students: Teona Kokashvili, Teona Mamestarashvili, Ana Gonghadze) visited Kvemo Nikozi, the family of Badri Devidze to carry out an archeological excavation on family premises. Discovered artifacts ( small, Trans Caucasus axe, made of bronze, flat axe, various big-size fragments, small knife, knife handle, bronze welded drippings, terracotta fragments –traces of manufacturing iron and bronze objects, household items etc.) belong to late bronze-early iron era, functioned in X-VIII cc BC.
The project “Archeology with young generation near occupation line” is financed by The Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth. Project participant made some specifications, cleaned and chose an area for future excavations, made measurements etc. fulfillment of the project is time-sensitive and with great importance as the village is near to occupation line , about one kilometer afar from Tskhinvali and this new discovery will raise interest among archeologists worldwide, it also raises awareness and motivation among students. Final Findings will be displayed through the internet with scientific article and video.
